Residents to have their say on local crime problems

20/05/10

Local residents in the Newcastle area are being urged to come along to a public meeting chaired by Councillor Gareth Cooper, a member of Northumbria Police Authority, on Monday, 24 May at 7pm to have their say on policing issues.

Newcastle’s senior police officer, Chief Superintendent Graham Smith, will be at the meeting at Thomas Gaughan Community Centre, Yelverton Crescent, Pottery Bank, Newcastle to listen to views on crime problems and local issues. He will also talk about the future plans for police services in the area.

The meeting has been organised by Northumbria Police Authority and is one of many events that takes place each year so that local residents can have their say on crime problems and local police services.

Councillor Mick Henry, Chair of Northumbria Police Authority said: “Northumbria Police Authority makes sure the police are doing a good job and fighting crime. To do this, we need to hear from local people about the issues that are important in their area. We can then make sure the police are providing services that are needed in different communities across Northumbria. Come along to the meeting and raise your concerns, problems and ideas.”
