Your Views Count 2005
In Autumn 2005 every business and household in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear was sent a leaflet entitled “Your Views Count” and just under 29,000 people returned the questionnaire, their comments will help us and Northumbria Police determine policing priorities for 2006/07 onwards and produce our plans for the future.
You told us that your top 5 priorities, across Northumbria are:
- Responding rapidly to emergency calls/situations
- Reducing anti-social behaviour by young people
- Preventing/solving terrorist attacks
- Reducing drug-related crime/drug availability
- Solving/reducing violent crime

Residents' survey 2005
During September 2005 some have you may have been visited by surveyors from the market research company BMG (market group). Over 2,500 local people took part and answered an in-depth questionnaire looking at:
- Neighbourhood issues
- Experience of crime
- Police in their neighbourhood
- Communication and information
The authority commissions this survey on a biennial basis to gain the views of the public on a wide variety of issues relating to policing and fear of crime, the findings assisting the Authority to work with the Northumbria Police to deliver effective policing across Northumbria.
